Moto X - iPhone5

Moto x - iPhone 5
Moto x圖: 取自Techchurch

Windows 8 will arrive in June

This news comes fresh from the company revealing the Windows 8 catalogues last week, which will come in four different editions: Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, Windows Enterprise and Windows RT.
The date touted today isn’t to be confused with the full release of the new system, which remains unconfirmed but is speculated to be coming in October.
Microsoft has given the public flashes of what it can expect from its new operating system as The Developer Preview was made available to download in November 2011, before the Redmond-based giant got the Consumer Preview out and ready at the end of February.
This release is a much bigger deal and it is likely to get Microsoft and Windows enthusiasts very keen on the upcoming release, which they’ll have to patiently hang on for.
For more details on Windows 8, see our ‘Everything you need to know about Windows 8′s Consumer Preview’ article from February.

Firefox 12 automatic update for PC, MAC and Linux

Mozilla has announced the release of Firefox 12 for desktop, and the new browser is now available to download for Windows, Mac and Linux device now.
The company claims that the latest iteration of the browser includes no fewer than 85 improvements to its built-in developer tools, and a number of other updates that improve the experience of those that use the browser.
Writing on the Mozilla blog, the company says it has “put a lot of work” into Firefox 12. One change highlighted is the simplification of the update process for Windows users, which has seen the removal of the user account control dialog (UAC) pop-up. For all subsequent versions, Firefox will automatically update without your approval.
The upshot of this is that permission to install is needed just once, and Firefox will update to future versions in the future with requiring any prompting.
Life has also been made bit easier for developers: ”Developers no longer need to reload the page to see messages in the Web Console and Scratchpad adds Find and Jump to Line commands to the editor…Our improvements touched on every one of the built-in tools.”
The full list of developer updates can be found at Robert Nyman’s Mozilla Hacks blog. While they’d been known about since February, loyal Firefox users have had a bit of a wait before this new update and features.
Further down the line, we recently reported that Firefox for Windows 8 is progressing well. That’s well and good as Microsoft confirmed the Preview Release of Windows’ new operating system will be out in June, suggesting a full-on consumer launch could take place October, which isn’t far away at all.
You can read the full announcement of the launch of Firefox 12 for Windows, Mac and Linux hereor download the clients directly from Mozilla.

Google Drive update the free Cloud Storage to 5GB

Yay, the “Google Drive could launch next week” rumors can finally end. Google has officially announced the availability of it cloud storage service Google Drive. Starting today, anyone willing to sign up can get 5GB of free cloud-storage to start and if that’s not enough you can always choose to upgrade to 25GB for $2.49/month, 100GB for $4.99/month or even 1TB for $49.99/month (although I’ve heard people getting even cheaper deals when they sign up). When you upgrade to a paid account, your Gmail account storage will also expand to 25GB. Google Drive competes with the likes of Dropbox, Sugar Sync, and other cloud storage services by offering:
  • Create and collaborate – Google Docs is built right into Google Drive, so you can work with others in real time on documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Once you choose to share content with others, you can add and reply to comments on anything (PDF, image, video file, etc.) and receive notifications when other people comment on shared items.
  • Store everything safely and access it anywhere (especially while on the go). All your stuff is just… there. You can access your stuff from anywhere—on the web, in your home, at the office, while running errands and from all of your devices. You can install Drive on your Mac or PC and can download the Drive app to your Android phone or tablet. We’re also working hard on a Drive app for your iOS devices. And regardless of platform, blind users can access Drive with a screen reader.
  • Search everything – Search by keyword and filter by file type, owner and more. Drive can even recognize text in scanned documents using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. Let’s say you upload a scanned image of an old newspaper clipping. You can search for a word from the text of the actual article. We also use image recognition so that if you drag and drop photos from your Grand Canyon trip into Drive, you can later search for [grand canyon] and photos of its gorges should pop up. This technology is still in its early stages, and we expect it to get better over time.
Of course Google Drive being a Google product and all, will seamlessly work with other Google products and services such as Google+ and Gmail. It’s also an open-platform just begging for developers to do amazing things with.
Google Drive may seem like a no-brainer for all you users out there that rely heavily on Google products, but it’s still smart to explore all your other options and choose what’s right for your situation.

Flashback malware

Flashback virus
